Hi! I think bios written in third person are kind of weird, because I'm obviously the one writing about myself, but here is one:

“Official” Bio

Sun Chang is a musician based in Chicago, with a focus on championing works by women composers. She is versatile musician who enjoys a wide range of styles, instruments, and performance settings. Born in South Korea, Sun grew up playing and listening to classical music. After her move to the states at age 8, she studied piano with Dr. Peter Mack in the Seattle area, sang in many choirs (including jazz!), and played three band instruments (cornet, french horn, oboe). After that, she attended Northwestern University, where she became exposed to and interested in historical performance practices and took harpsichord lessons.

During her post-college job as a pianist in a quintet onboard Holland America Line ships, she met her now spouse, Ben, who added contemporary jazz, postmodern jazz, post-jazz musics, 70s funk classics, and other fun items to her listening horizons. She attended graduate school at the Royal Academy of Music, earning a masters in Historical Performance on harpsichord.

As a Chicago-based freelancer, she is happy to have collaborated with many talented groups and individuals, including Ars Musica Chicago, Haymarket Opera, Camerata Chicago, Vadim Gluzman, Ear Taxi Festival, Bella Voce, and many others. She is a regular member of Trio Tailleferre, a piano trio focused on underrepresented repertoire; Ensemble Affect, a baroque string band; and Ensemble Adelaide, a baroque ensemble featuring the Hurdy Gurdy.

In addition to performing, she is fortunate to be able to share her passion for music education with her wonderful students at North Park University, where she is a lecturer in Aural Skills.
